Abstract
Induced calcite precipitation (ICP) in porous media is a promising technology in various engineering applications. It can be employed for soil strengthening or creating hydraulic barriers to prevent gas or contaminant leakage in the subsurface. Project C04 focuses on the associated alteration of porosity and, consequently, permeability of the porous medium. Micro-fluidic experiments have been performed while using optical microscopy to observe the change of porosity, and pressure measurements to estimate the corresponding permeability changes. Additionally, preliminary results from batch experiments and pore-scale simulation are going to be presented.
