Three-month research stay by Costanza Arico from the University of Palermo

May 6, 2024 /

Costanza Aricò is an Associate Professor for Fluid Mechanics, Biofluid Mechanics, and Hydraulics at the University of Palermo. She is visiting the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems from 16th April to 31st July 2024. Her stay is organized by SFB 1313.

Costanza Aricò is an Associate Professor of Fluid and Biofluid Mechanics at the University of Palermo, Italy. She studied Civil-Hydraulic Engineering and passed her PhD in 2004 at the University of Catania.

Costanza's main research focuses on numerical methods for fluid dynamic problems. Her research interests concern the numerical simulation of flow and transport problems in fluid and porous media on the continuum scale. In 2022 and 2023, Costanza spent longer research stays at our Department and started cooperating with several members of our staff concerning a new one-domain model (Brinkman model) for the coupling of free flow and porous media systems.

As a guest of SFB 1313, Costanza will spend a 3-month stay at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems starting on 16th April 2024. Our group is very much looking forward to work with her on the progress of the aforementioned model for potential extension to model heat and solute transport processes.
