Six-month research stay by SFB 1313 guest Costanza Aricò from the University of Palermo

February 17, 2022 / sas

Costanza Aricò from the University of Palermo (Italy) is visiting the Department of Hydromachanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems (LH2) from March to August 2022. Her stay is organized by SFB 1313.

Costanza Aricò's main research activities have been focused on numerical methods for fluid dynamic problems. Her research interests concern the numerical simulation of flow and transport problems in fluids and porous media on the continuum (Darcy) scale. Starting from two recent works on DNS of 3D Navier-Stokes and coupled heat and flow transport problems, she is going to develop a numerical solver for 3D flow and transport problems using unstructured (tetrahedral) grids for hydrogeological/environmental/industrial problem simulations in "real life".

As a guest of SFB 1313, Costanza Aricò will spend a 6-month stay at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems starting on 1 March 2022. We are very happy to welcome Prof. Costanza Aricò to our SFB 1313 team. Our group is very much looking forward to work with her on the continuum Darcy solver and pore scale physical processes with special regards to interface conditions, heterogeneities of the medium, hysteresis, etc.
