About the concept
The exhibition "Pretty Porous - Alles Porös" is conceived as a "showcase laboratory" and guides visitors through the mostly hidden everyday work of SFB 1313 researchers of the University of Stuttgart. Their work places were transferred to the planetarium: desks, screens, a printer - the everyday working infrastructure of the researchers serves to convey the content.
A total of seven workstations provide different approaches to the topic of porous media: from a quick introduction to the topic, through short explanatory texts, popular science introductory films, scientific videos, graphics, models and simulations on the screens, to scientific texts and real scientific SFB 1313 publications. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to sit down at the tables, browse, click through the screen applications with their content, exchange ideas.
Suspended vertical blinds, as space-creating elements. They frame the workplaces and span various zones in the foyer of the Planetarium. The slats turn, open and close - this additional programming creates flexible and dynamic spaces. As one wanders through the exhibition, new visual relationships, perspectives and permeabilities are constantly emerging. The vertical blinds support the atmospheric framework and accompany the visitors into a world of research on porous media.
The exhibition can be visited from 18 June to 30 August 2020 in the foyer of the Planetarium Stuttgart. At the same time, the exhibition content can also be viewed online at https://www.allesporoes.de.
The project is realized in cooperation between SFB 1313 / the Cluster of Excellence SimTech (both University of Stuttgart) and the Reallabor Space Sharing of the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart.
