Porous Media Exhibition: Art meets Science

December 9, 2019 /

The State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart and SFB 1313 (University of Stuttgart) are jointly planning and creating porous media exhibition

New cooperation

We are pleased to announce the new cooperation between the Reallabor Space Sharing (State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart – ABK) and SFB 1313 (University of Stuttgart). Together with SimTech, we will realize a porous media exhibition for a broader audience at the Planetarium Stuttgart from June 18 to October 18, 2020.

About the ABK Team

Natascha Peinsipp and Felix Steinhoff are the persons in charge concerning the design of the porous media exhibition and its realization. They are working at the Studio of "Housing and Architectural Design" (Chair: Prof. Mark Blaschitz) within the research project "Reallabor Space Sharing", which is funded by the State Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Baden-Württemberg (MWK). Natascha and Felix are both owner of the “asphalt-kollektiv”, a collective for realizing projects in the field of architecture and culture.

Why staging porous media?

Porous media can be found almost everywhere in everyday life. They have a high social relevance, but the knowledge about porous media research is very little in society. In order to raise awareness of this topic and the importance of porous media, SFB 1313 (Speaker: Prof. Rainer Helmig) has set itself the task of preparing this subject for a general audience and making it accessible in a porous media science exhibition. Visitors shall immerse themselves into the world of a porous media researcher and explore porous media in a playful way.

Exhibition location: Planetarium Stuttgart
Exhibition period: June 18 - October 18, 2020
