Abstract

Within the scope of Associated Project AX-3, experimental and numerical analysis of soil water evaporation have been performed. Numerical work, using a two-domain REV scale model to describe a turbulent atmosphere adjacent to a non-flat partially saturated porous medium will be described and an example case will be presented. Experimental work, where an instrumented porous medium flow system was introduced to a controlled wind tunnel environment, will be outlined, and preliminary results will be shown. Both of these approaches focus on the effects interfacial forms will have on evaporational fluxes. In review, new ideas for further work will be discussed.
