On 6 May 2025, the ZIA – Visible Women in Science Congress took place in Berlin, bringing together inspiring women and allies from across the scientific community, public institutions, and the media. The event celebrated visibility, empowerment, and structural change for women in science and research. Our SFB 1313 post-doctoral researcher and Zia Fellow 2024/25 Samaneh Vahid Dastjerdi from the Institute for Applied Mechanics and SFB 1313 doctoral researcher and Zia Fellow 2023/24 Stefanie Kiemle from the Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems participated both in the event.
Through a dynamic program of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, participants explored key topics such as gender equity in academia, inclusive leadership, science communication, and the importance of diverse career paths. Experts and thought leaders shared valuable insights and experiences – highlighting both persistent challenges and practical strategies for sustainable change.
Organized as a joint project of the Volkswagen Foundation, Holtzbrinck Berlin – Inspire Together, and the ZEIT Verlagsgruppe, the ZIA Congress created a powerful platform for networking, critical dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration.
