Dr.-Ing. Kartik Jain is a Scientist in the Institute for Computational Physics and is involved in the Project area C of the SFB1313.

Kartik obtained a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) with a distinction (summa cum laude) from the University of Siegen in 2016, prior to which he acquired a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Simulation Sciences from the RWTH Aachen University. Before joining SFB 1313, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Physiology of the University of Zürich, Switzerland for two years.

His main research interests are modeling of flow and transport in physiological applications using high performance supercomputers, with a particular focus on particle based methods. His doctoral dissertation explored transition to turbulence in hemodynamics of intracranial aneurysms and hydrodynamics of the cerebrospinal fluid in the spinal canal and he worked on modeling of Oxygen transport in the Kidney during his research in Zürich.
