SFB 1313 guest: Nima Shokri

October 1, 2018 /

1st October to 31st December 2018 | University of Manchester

Nima Shokri of The University of Manchester, UK, will be our SFB 1313 guest from
1st October to 31st December 2018 and research with us in the field of porous media. We’re looking forward to welcome him at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems.

Nima Shokri is leading the Multiphase Flow and Porous Media Research Group at The University of Manchester, which is part of the School of Chemical Engineering and
Analytical Science.

Nima Shokri's work focuses on Environmental Geophysics, Terrestrial Hydrology and Ecosystem Functioning and Physics of multiphase flow in porous media. He combines theory, state-of-art modeling techniques and experiments using cutting-edge technologies to extend the fundamental understanding of the multiphase and multiscale processes occurring near the earth’s surface. The active projects in his research group can be categorized into the following main areas:

1. Soil water evaporation dynamics coupled with external conditions
2. Soil salinization
3. Land-use management for sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystem
4. Dynamics of multiphase flow in porous media
5. Complex fluids.
