Our external partner, co-investigator and newly appointed SFB 1313 Mercator Fellow Sorin Iuliu Pop from the Hasselt University (Belgium) visited the SFB 1313 group in the week from 10 to 14 July 2023. During his one-week research stay, he gave the SFB 1313 Pretty Porous Science Lecture #43 on "Homogenization of a reaction-diffusion model involving free boundaries at the micro scale".
SFB 1313 principal investigator Christian Rohde, professor at the Institute of Applied Analysis and Numerical Simulation of the University of Stuttgart, had the great pleasure to interview him about homogenization methods and upscaling modeling in porous media research, the joint work between the field of mathematics and the applied sciences etc. and about his future research aims.
