May 16, 2022

The SFB 1313 team offerd a porous media internship to two pupils from the Christophorus-Gymnasium Altensteig for one week in May.

Two students from the Christophorus-Gymnasium Altensteig visited the University of Stuttgart from 9 to 13 May 2022 and completed their one-week BOGY internship within SFB 1313. They got introduced in the world of porous media and got an insight view of how porous media research is conducted within SFB 1313.

SFB 1313 BOGY programme
  • Mon, 9 May 2022: Experimenting with porous media part I (B05 and Z02)
  • Tue, 10 May 2022: Experimenting with porous media II (C04, CX2 and A06)
  • Wen, 11 May 2022: Mathematics within SFB 1313 (A03, B03 and C02)
  • Thu, 12 May 2022: Molecular Simulation Workshop (C01)
  • Fri, 13 May 2022: Computer Science within SFB 1313 (D02)

In addition to the workshop content, on Tuesday, the were able to attend the lecture "Fluid Mechanics I" to get to know one part of the study programme "Environmental Engineering" and got guided tours through the Institute of Aerospace Thermodynamics (ITLR) and the Research Facility for Subsurface Remediation (VEGAS). On Thursday they attended the scientific talk by SFB 1313 guest Sidian Chen and the Karst Theory Talk by geologist Harald Scherzer and Holger Class "Nerochytische Speläogenese (NERO): Eine neue Verkarstungstheorie” at the Laichinger Tiefenhöhle.

Many thanks go to Matthisas Ruf, Dongwon Lee, Holger Class, Johannes Hommel, Felix Weinhardt, Julian Härter, Elissa Eggenweiler, Samuel Burbulla, Lars von Wolff, Simon Gravelle and Alexander Jaust!
