Once a year, the University of Stuttgart opens its laboratory doors. Different departments, institutes and research teams showed their research, created exhibits or hands-on experiments, gave lectures. The event took place on 27 June 2026 at the university campus.
Our SFB 1313 team participated with the mini exhibition "Pretty Porous - Alles Porös". Despite the hot temperatures, our target group found our exhibition and was introduced in the world of porous media and had the possibility to understand them through exhibits and experiments.
- Flow experiment: How fast does water flow through porous media?
3. Hands-on exhibit "Below the surface": the environmental example of an earthworm that explains to us porous media processes that take place underneath the soil.
Furthermore, they could experiment with the porous medium "toilet paper" and discover flow, transport and deformation in porous media. They formed a worm out of the toilet paper and made him move with drribbling water on top of it.
We are very thankful for all the support regarding the organisation of the exhibition as well as the support on site. We appreciate it very much.
