About the Magne Espedal Honorary Professorship

Magne S. Espedal, world-renowned professor at the University of Bergen, was the first person to introduce and connect the field of applied mathematics and research on porous media. After he unexpectedly passed away in 2010, a professorship was established in his honour: the Magne Espedal Honorary Professorship.

We are proud that Prof. Miriam Schulte is already the second SFB 1313 researcher who has been awarded the Magne Espedal Professorship. Prof. Rainer Helmig, former SFB 1313 spokesperson, was appointed to be the Magne Espedal Honorary Professor from 2019 to 2022.
