Mercator Fellow Al Cunningham visits SFB 1313 from 18 to 23 September 2022

August 12, 2022 /

SFB 1313 Mercator Fellow Al Cunningham, professor of the Center for Biofilm Engineering at the Montana State University, spends a one-week research visit at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems of the University of Stuttgart

Al Cunningham has been professor emeritus of civil engineering at the Montana State University (MSU) since 2015. In addition to his post retirement appointment at the Department of Civil Engineering (CE), he is still affiliated with MSU's Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) and the Energy Research Institute (ERI).

We are very pleased that Al Cunningham will be visiting the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems of the University of Stuttgart from 18 to 23 September 2022, and that we can continue our long-standing research collaboration. Al has been involved in several Stuttgart PhD projects in the past. In SFB 1313, he has been a Mercator Fellow since the first funding period.

Al's research interests concern groundwater, hydrology, bioremediation, subsurface biofilms, subsurface storage and leakage control of gas (CO2, CH4 and H2) and associated reservoir fluids, synergies between energy production and water quality.
