We welcome Costanza Aricò from the University of Palermo (Italy). As a SFB 1313 guest, she will spend a 5-month stay at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems, starting on 1st March 2026. With the start of the thrid funding period of SFB 1313 on 1st January 2026, she is now an official external partner in the research project A02 "Advanced modelling concepts for coupling free flow with porous-media flow".
About Costanza Aricò
Costanza Aricò is an Associate Professor of Fluid and Biofluid Mechanics at the University of Palermo, Italy. She studied Civil-Hydraulic Engineering and passed her PhD in 2004 at the University of Catania.
Costanza's main research focuses on numerical methods for fluid dynamic problems. Her research interests concern the numerical simulation of flow and transport problems in fluid and porous media on the continuum scale.
In 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, Costanza spent longer research stays at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems (LH2) and started cooperating with several members of the department groups regarding a new one-domain model (Brinkman model) for the coupling of free flow and porous media systems.
